Gavin Drake is a writer and broadcaster who has recently returned to full time journalism after 15 years working in public relations.

He specialises in issues of religion and law; and also covers criminal justice and general news.

Having cut his journalistic teeth on the contemporary Christian music magazine Cross Rhythms, Gavin moved to the West Country, and worked as a news reporter for most of the UK's national press, television and news radio stations; as well as a host of regional and international publications.

After making the move into public relations Gavin ran a political consultancy supporting candidates ahead of the 1997 General Election before moving to the Evangelical Alliance as its communications officer.  A further 18 months in consultancy followed, during which he was the launch-editor for WorldView, an e-newsletter for World Vision; and  co-wrote the report Faith in Life - the results of the churchgoing 'census' produced by Churches Information for Mission.

He was appointed director of communications for the Bishop and Diocese of Lichfield in January 2002; leaving in October 2011 to return to the purer forms of journalism.

Gavin Drake is a member of the Chartered Institute of Journalists.
